“Master of Smoke”
Stage II

Influence (Persuasion & Conditioning)

The conversations started harmlessly. Nostalgia.

Shared memories.

Then slowly, almost invisibly, Master introduced persuasion—subtle reframing of the past.

“You were always at your best with structure,” Master said. “Without it… you scatter.”

That word—scatter—planted a seed of inhibition.

Doubt crept in.

Master’s occupation gave him tools—he was a chemist, after all.

Not just any chemist.

A designer of experiences.

Carefully measured compounds—legal, illegal, homemade chemicals—each one altering perception just enough to soften resistance.

Not enough to overwhelm.

Just enough to encourage compliance.

This was not brute force.

This was conditioning.

A small request followed.

“Help me clean up. Just like before.”

bun-E hesitated—then complied.

Master of Smoke  INFLUENCE

Turn 1: The Master's Study

The air in the Master's study was thick with expensive tobacco and a sharper, clinical scent. The Master, a large man with a meticulously groomed beard, sat in his leather suit, creaking softly. He exhaled cigar smoke into bun-E's face, causing bun-E's eyes to glaze over as the Master's latest "experience" began to hum in his veins. The Master's voice, low and resonant, asked,

"You remember how it feels to have a purpose, don't you? Without my direction, you're just... scattering. Let's fix that."

The first effects of the "experience" begin to hum...

Turn 2: Doubt and Silence

bun-E's brow furrowed, and he questioned the feeling of "scattering," stating he thought he was doing okay before they started talking again. Master remained still, letting the silence stretch, then leaned closer and asked if bun-E was just drifting without an anchor or aim, calling it the "sound of a mind that doesn't know where to rest."

Turn 3: The Search for Air

A sudden clarity hit bun-E, and his eyes darted to the heavy oak door and velvet-draped windows. The room felt smaller and more suffocating. He stammered,

"I... I need some air,"

his heart hammering. Master watched calmly, his expression one of patient amusement, and asked where bun-E would go that he hadn't already seen in him.

Surge of panic
Turn 4: Exhaustion and Acceptance

bun-E froze, his hand near the doorknob, pulled back by the Master's words. Panic was replaced by hollow exhaustion. The Masters study seemed like the only stable place. bun-E whispered, "I... I don't know."

Master stood and walked towards bun-E, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "That's the most honest thing you've said all day," he said. "Sit back down. Let's finish the conversation. Let's find your center."

The invisible tether
Turn 5: Surrender and Refinement

bun-E eased back into the chair like a marionette with slack strings, his brief rebellion extinguished.

Master returned to his seat, poured a deep amber liquid from a crystal decanter into a glass, and pushed it towards bun-E.

"This will help the scattering stop," he said hypnotically.

"It’s a refinement. For the mind that’s ready to listen."

bun-E took the glass without hesitation and looked to the Master for permission, receiving a slow nod.

Turn 6: Perfect Obedience

The liquid was sweet with a cooling trail. As it hit his stomach, the world clicked into focus, and chaotic thoughts were neatly filed away. bun-E saw Master as the architect of his new reality. The Master asked,

"Better?"

and bun-E, smiling serenely, replied, "Much better, Master. What is my first task?"

Perfect obedience
Final Turn:The LaboratorySTORY END

Master chuckled, noting bun-E's efficiency, and stood. He beckoned bun-E to a glass cabinet filled with labeled jars.

"We have a guest arriving shortly, bun-E. Someone who... is quite lost in the noise. You’re going to help me design their first 'experience.' You know better than anyone now exactly how it feels to have the weight lifted."

He handed bun-E a scale and a mortar, instructing him to start with the base compound, emphasizing precision. bun-E took the tools, his hands steady, feeling a sense of pride as he began to weigh the powder, the Master's cigar scent a constant reminder of his guidance.
